A northern spotted owl sits amid branches of dying trees on timberland managed by Green Diamond Resource Company in Blue Lake, Cali. Though these particular trees do not look healthy, the timber company has left enough healthy, large trees on their lands that they still have northern spotted owls on their property. This owl had been called in by timber company biologists while conducting surveys for owls.
