The elk roam comfortably through the towns of Clatsop County, and it is not uncommon to end up stuck in slow-moving traffic as they roam around town. Luckily, most of the towns have low speed limits, which helps in the avoidance of collisions as long as everyone, humans especially, respects the pace of life here. This was taken while on my way to a state park to run the trails with my dog, Javier. Soon medians like the one this elk is roaming might look very different. The town of Hammond plans to replant these zones with non-native elk-resistant plants.
